Meet some of our coaches
RESET coaches are experienced educators who are especially good at helping teens get going.
They have a track record of helping students figure out where to start and follow through on the work in front of them. Here are a few of the coaches your teen may work with.
Laura Mahajan
Laura brings 23 years in education, along with a history degree from Princeton and a master’s from Columbia’s Teachers College. She learned executive function in the daily work of the classroom, where hundreds of papers and links can move in and out each day. With RESET students, she gets into the specifics and helps make their goals easier to reach.
Austin Moore
Austin spent eight years teaching high school chemistry and has also worked in youth programming and education research. He likes to build systems with students. The work is hands-on, collaborative, and often fun. He digs into the details so teens can feel more capable and confident.
Brian Hyosaka
Brian has spent 15 years teaching and leading schools, from a bilingual fifth-grade classroom to founding a middle school built around real-world learning. A lifelong athlete and coach, he enjoys the unglamorous work: deciding what comes first when everything feels urgent and breaking big projects into manageable steps. He asks a lot of questions and helps each student build systems that fit how their brain works.
Lauren Adams
Lauren taught high school English for 18 years and completed graduate coursework at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She believes organization can be learned like any other subject, and built an academic-skills class at her school around that idea. With RESET, she brings that same work to students one at a time.
Kendra Trumbo
Kendra is a coaching and enablement professional with experience in higher education and corporate settings. She has guided adult learners through admissions and supported students one-on-one with academic questions and moments of uncertainty. With a master’s degree in organizational communication, she helps students simplify how they work, build confidence, and make steady progress by meeting them where they are and growing from there.
Xana Turner-Owens
Xana is a writer, photographer, and executive functioning coach who studied sociology and African American studies at Wesleyan University and pursued writing at Harvard Extension School. She brings a lifelong love of writing and organization to her work with students. Xana enjoys creating systems that fit each student’s needs and helping teens build skills and tools they can keep using.
Kevin Kilcoyne
Kevin comes from a family of educators and began teaching as a substitute in Miami-Dade County Public Schools while he was in college. He later taught English through the JET Program in Japan and became a Principal Learning Consultant at Lindamood-Bell, where he developed expertise in curriculum and specialized learning strategies. As a coach, he combines empathy and genuine curiosity with clear accountability to help students make progress toward their academic and personal goals.
Andrew Tripodo
Andrew studied political science at Kenyon College, taught high school government and economics in New Orleans, and earned a master’s degree from NYU. He later worked as a curriculum developer and academic coach for charter and private schools and now leads a Florida program at a nonprofit that partners with more than 100 high schools. With RESET students, Andrew focuses on the small habits that support bigger goals, such as choosing what to tackle first and starting large assignments earlier.
